tomstier.com is now completely converted over to the WordPress platform. For many years this site was powered by another content management system (CMS).
But, when we added WordPress to make up for the lack of a easy & quick blogging feature, inertia set in. It became a hassle for us to deal with the two separate login screens – the CMS Admin and the WordPress Dashboard.
We had developed a few sites with the CMS in years past. But with the passage of time, it became a headache to switch between the two systems, and using the News module on the CMS .
When we added WordPress we had to create a unified front-end layout between the two systems – a set of Template files for the CMS and a Theme for WordPress.
Converting to a new layout would have required double work. So rather than again unifying the layouts, we opted to transfer the CMS content over to WordPress, and then setup a responsive Theme.
This once again brought home that it really is the users of the websites we create that need the simplest way possible for them to do what they need to do. That includes us.
